King Abdulaziz University has launched four fellowship programs through the Center for University Education Development for the first semester of the 1447 AH academic year. The programs aim to empower faculty members and researchers by equipping them with advanced knowledge and skills to keep pace with the latest global practices in artificial intelligence, research, leadership, and education.
The four programs include:
• The Professional Development Fellowship for University Teachers
• The Fellowship on Artificial Intelligence Applications in Education and Research
• The University Researchers Fellowship
• The Academic Leadership Fellowship
Each program provides 60 hours of training over one semester, followed by a four-month application phase.
Prof. Amin bin Yousef Noaman, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, highlighted the University Researchers Fellowship, describing it as a comprehensive program designed to enhance research skills, strengthen academic publishing and innovation capabilities, and support researchers at all stages of the scientific process, culminating in the publication of results in prestigious journals.
He also emphasized the Academic Leadership Fellowship, tailored for academic department leaders. The program focuses on three core competency areas—academic, administrative, and leadership—covering 21 competencies in total. It is based on the latest global studies and practices to strengthen the effectiveness of departmental leadership.
Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Hanaa bint Abdullah Al-Naeem, spoke about the AI Applications in Education and Research Fellowship, which provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of how to apply artificial intelligence across disciplines, while equipping them with the skills needed to effectively integrate AI tools into teaching, learning, and research practices.
Prof. Hani bin Sami Brdesee, Director of the Center for University Education Development, explained that the Professional Development Fellowship for University Teachers is a holistic developmental and practical program supporting early-career faculty. It is designed to build their knowledge, skills, and professional confidence through both theoretical and applied learning, complemented by hands-on field experiences in higher education teaching and learning.
